American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers
Scholarship Program

The Nebraska Chapter ASFMRA is offering at least one $1500 scholarship per year, for individuals who show a strong desire to work as a professional farm manager and/or rural appraiser. Eligibility includes using the scholarship during the junior or senior year with a major in Agricultural Economics with either a Farm and Ranch Management or Applied Economics Option. Applicants must be full-time students for the full year the scholarship is awarded. All applicants must have completed Ag Econ 201 Farm and Ranch Management.

Farm manager applicants must have completed or be enrolled in one or more of the following courses: Ag Econ 301 Farm Accounting, Analysis and Tax Management; Ag Econ 325 Marketing of Agricultural Commodities; Ag Econ 401 Advanced Farm Management and Linear Programming; and Ag Econ 452 Agricultural Finance.

Rural appraiser applicants must have completed or be enrolled in one or more of the following courses: Ag Econ 301 Farm Accounting, Analysis and Tax Management; Ag Econ 401 Advanced Farm Management and Linear Programming; Ag Econ 452 Agricultural Finance; Ag Econ 453 Agricultural and Rural Property Appraisal; and Finance 382 Real Estate Principles and Practices.

All applicants will interview with the members of the Chapter's College Liaison Committee which include professional farm managers and rural appraisers.

The scholarship will be awarded only if there are qualified applicants.

Deadline for applications are typically due by the first part of April each year.

Decisions by the Nebraska Chapter College Liaison Committee members as to the scholarship recipients are final.
